As I gear up for some 2017 summer travels, it occurs to me that I’ve been to a few great places over the last year and never documented the trips. So here are some short summaries and photos of my last few adventures!
First, I went west for my friends Cathy and Patrick’s wedding in Denver, Colorado in September, spending just a long weekend of Friday through Monday there. I know Cathy through Ethical Culture, and a lot of old friends from there attended. I met up with Rachel and Spencer from Pittsburgh in the airport, where we rented a car and drove into the city before heading to our shared AirBnb house on a quiet street. I was hit with some altitude sickness and felt dizzy for a while, but it passed by that night. Saturday was a fun pre-wedding party at a brewery, followed by a night out downtown. Sunday was the wedding which took place at Cathy and Patrick’s new house, which they had decorated beautifully. It was such a lovely day! On our last day, we left the city to check out Red Rocks Amphitheater, the famous concert venue. We met up with another Ethical Culture friend Aaron, who happened to be traveling to Denver the same weekend with Jordan from their home in Minnesota. It was beautiful, and just climbing up and down the stairs felt like a hike and a real workout up in the altitude. That weekend we also managed to squeeze in a trip to a Colorado history museum, where we enjoyed an exhibition on awkward family photos, plus lots of good restaurants and other city exploring. It was a very fun and memorable weekend!
